JIP Constitution

The Jamaican Institute of Planners (JIP) represents the renewed mission of The Town and Country Planning Association of Jamaica (TCPAJ) which was inaugurated in February 1974 to raise the standards of planning practice and education in Jamaica, and the professional development of its members.

The Constitution and Rules of the JIP state the main goals and objectives of the Institute, all intended to promote planning as a profession in Jamaica, protect the practice, create opportunities for members and advance the art and science of planning to guide the sustainable development of the country.
The Constitution details the eligibility for membership to the Institute, the rights and privileges of members and the relevant procedures for application, resignation, etc..  The Constitution makes provision for structure and procedures for the Institute’s governance and management, a National Board and Regional Committees.  The Rules summarizes the Planner’s responsibilities to clients and employers and sets rules for the Institute’s members and their professional conduct.
